Inside Out Learners, Inc., located in Chesapeake, Virginia, is a unique educational center dedicated to serving neurodivergent individuals, primarily autistic learners, ages 6 to 40. Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and neuro-affirming environment where learners can build meaningful connections, enhance their social and emotional skills, and feel validated for who they are.
Established in 2016 by a Virginia-certified teacher with a passion for neurodiversity, Inside Out Learners specializes in autism and dyslexia, offering tailored support to address the diverse needs of learners in a variety of age groups. We provide a wide range of services, including our flagship Social Decoding Program, which focuses on helping individuals navigate social interactions in a way that fosters understanding, self-confidence, and emotional well-being. These sessions are carefully grouped based on emotional maturity and grade level, ensuring the most supportive and effective learning environment.
Our programs also include engaging social groups for teens, tweens, and young adults, such as Gaming Hangouts, Dungeons & Dragons sessions (including one with a Star Wars theme), Tweens & Teens Gaming Night, and NEW programs to kick off 2025 where participants can bond with like-minded peers.
Inside Out Learners also offers academic tutoring and literacy support, particularly for individuals with unique learning needs such as ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and speech delays. Our experienced and highly certified teaching staff use evidence-based approaches, like the Orton-Gillingham method, alongside interactive and hands-on strategies to make learning engaging and effective.
Our facility is designed to feel welcoming and supportive for both our learners and their families. From one-on-one sessions to small group activities, we ensure every learner has a personalized experience that respects their individuality. We also host virtual or in-person tours on a case-by-case basis to help families better understand our services and feel comfortable within our space.
