The Little Gym of Chesapeake is a seriously fun place for kids to stretch their minds, bodies and imagination. My daughters, ages 3 and 6, recently got the chance to participate in some of the summer camps offered at The Little Gym, and they had such a blast! I wanted to share what we loved about our experience.
Confidence Building
My girls got a chance to go to two days of summer camp. The first day did involve some tears, as one of my girls is very attached to me and didn't want me to leave. However, it is a drop-off event, so I comforted her and had her go into the gym after a long hug. Then I spent time out and about with my youngest son while his sisters had a blast at the Little Gym! I knew from plenty of past experiences with my oldest children that after the fun started, my girls would soon forget all about me. The proud, broad smiles I got from my girls at pickup time confirmed my suspicions.
The confidence my daughters gained was not just in being away from home for several hours, but it was in what they could do physically! Like anyone, kids don't know what they are capable of until they try. The Little Gym provides a fun, safe environment, with professional supervision, so your kids can climb, swing, balance, tumble, dance and run!
Active Bodies
Summer can be a lazy season for children, but the summer camps at The Little Gym get your child up and moving. The camps are structured so that there is time for several different activities, whether it be playing with the parachute, doing silly dances, learning forward rolls on the big donut, or climbing a big cushioned mountain.
Active Minds
When it's time for a break, the kids can rest their bodies, but their minds keep going! From story time to crafts, there is a lot to keep them engaged and put their imaginations to work. Every day at summer camp, the campers create a craft to take home and show mom and dad. My girls were especially proud of their dragon masks.
The summer camps at The Little Gym are a great way to introduce your preschool age child to a classroom setting, or to introduce an elementary age child to the love of gymnastics. My 3 and 6 year old daughters who both attended the same summer camp sessions ended up learning and growing in different ways, and I am so glad they had the opportunity to do so! The girls also think I'm "the best mom ever" for taking them to summer camp, so there's that too.
