While technically a franchise, Duck Donuts still feels local, with its roots seemingly in our backyard. Duck Donuts originated in Duck, NC and has grown in popularity in recent years as the place to go for fresh, hot, custom and fun donuts the whole family will love. I know my kids are also especially fond of the rubber duckies on display too.

The only shop on our list that is 100% gluten free is Sun Flour Cafe - formerly TranquiliTea. This is a big deal for parents of kiddos with Celiac's, sensitivities or intolerances to gluten. What they lack in gluten, however, the donuts make up for in deliciousness! This Chesapeake bakery does offer much more than just donuts too.
