Fostering a love of science in children is what Mad Science is all about. Expose your children to the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) while they have so much fun they don't know they're learning. Different types of programs are available for registration, as well as booking a Mad Scientist for your child's next birthday party.
Summer Camps
With four different themed science summer camps being offered at several locations in Hampton Roads, including two locations in Chesapeake, Mad Science is the camp of choice for your young science aficionado. These half-day camps run Monday through Friday from 9 to 12pm and are geared toward kids ages 6 and up. Camps start on June 10 and run on a weekly basis until the week ending August 16.

For summer 2024, Mad Science is offering the following camp themes:
Crazy Chemworks: Shake up a flask of fun in the lab as a junior chemist! This week of chemistry is packed solid with cool reactions. Campers work to change liquids to solid and back again. They get to handle laboratory tools, build and break molecules, and pick up some tricks on chemical changes. Campers will also compete in the Slime Olympics!
BRIXOLOGY: Let the tinkering begin! Campers will get hands-on with LEGO® bricks to construct various projects. From assembling a space station to building boats and vehicles, campers will explore the many facets of engineering. Your future engineer will build upon their creativity to solve real world design challenges. Each day features a take-home project your camper can use at home with other LEGO® sets.
Secret Agent Lab: Focus on the science of forensics in this hands-on look at crime scenes. Identify and collect evidence, from fingerprints to tracks to trash! Recreate the scene of a crime using clues and detailed observations. Become a super sleuth and learn some of the clever tricks that spies use! Bring home items every day including the Fingerprint Finder, Secret Code Breaker, Spyglasses & more!
Guts, Goo, & Gross Science: Use your skills as a creepy chemist to make your own radically gross reactions! Compare fingerprints and discover the mysteries of DNA as you step into the shoes of a crime scene investigator. Make "brain goo" and get into your “guts” with an introduction to the body systems. Discover cool and yucky chemical reactions in this hands-on adventure!
